Browsing Internet on your smartphone without cellular network
Many people nowadays have fixed line to Internet at home. With MS Smartphone, connection through this line from the cellphone to the Internet is possible.

Before you can do anything you must first install "ActiveSync 3.6" program that serves the purpose of synchronization of data between PC and Smartphone, make it possible to browse on PC files on your smartphone and has also unique (as far as cellphones are concerned) capibility to be a gateway for the phone to access Internet (instead of standard way, which is through cellular network, through GPRS or CSD).

To install ActiveSync enter CD-ROM included with your phone to the computer and then a window with menu will appear (through auto start feature). In the menu click as follows "Start Here", then "Install Active Sync 3.6", and then small text "Install" under the icon of the Active Sync program.

After you get ActiveSync installed on your PC, go to your smartphone and select this: soft button "Programs", then "More...", then "Settings", then "Data Connections", and then in the screen that appears:

... in the choice "Internet connection:" select "Pass through connection" (use right and left cursor keys). After this press the soft button "Done" 2 times.

Now connect your cradle to the computer and put your MS Smarpthone cellphone into the cradle (eventually you can use infrared port for the same purpose). If everything is fine then on the screen of the phone you should see this:

... and on the screen of your PC you should see this:

And on the PC side (the PC must be connected to Internet for example through ADSL or cable modem) ensure that "Pass Through" inside of Active Sync is activated too:

... and now, if everything is working fine, then you can browse Internet on your smartphone without the need to pay anything to the cellular network operator:

Conclusions: the "pass through" feature is a nice thing that can be helpful in many respects - for example for direct installing of software on your smartphone or for simply browsing Internet on your phone for free (for example to make bookmarks so that later you can save time and GPRS transfer costs). This feature also shows that MS Smarpthone cellphones can be used for Internet browsing/connections in both directions - the cellphone can be a modem, or the cellphone can be a computer that connects to Internet by other means. Nowadays it is only infrared or USB with ActiveSync "pass through" solution, but soon Wi-Fi cards in SDIO format are coming to the market and then ultimate geek dream becomes reality: a device that can connect to Internet through cellular network (outdoors) and through Wi-Fi (indoors, or wherever Wi-Fi hot spots are available).
