3 ways of making screenshots of MS Smartphone cellphones
Whether you are a journalist, webmaster or software developer - sometimes it is useful to be able to make screenshots of your cell phone.

(written by Jacek Rutkowski)

Shortly speaking the 3 ways are:
The first way is to use digital camera, as you can see here:

... where digital camera is directed at mirror to make a photo of itself and of MS Smartphone.

The problem with making screenshots with digital camera is that you donīt get 1 to 1 quality correspondence but always you get some quality decrease. Making screenshots with digital camera is connected also with problems to get proper light conditions, lack of reflections and finding proper timing.

Good thing about making screenshots with digital camera is that you can make them also with certified/locked MS Smartphone (like a regular Orange SPV)

The second way is to use small freeware program "Smart SS", but you need to have unlocked/decertified phone:

After starting of the program:

... you simply press "Home" button, and then start the application of which you want to make screenshots. Then just press "*" button and you the screenshot is being saved to "\IPSM\My Documents" directory.

Unfortunately with "Smart SS" you cannot make screenshots of some applications, for example screenshots of games.

To download "Smart SS" click here.
With "Remote Display Control" application , that we describe in this part, you are able to make screenshots of all applications, even games. You need also unlocked/decertified MS Smartphone, and apart from making screenshots, you can also remotely control your Smartphone - you can see the display of your smartphone on your PC and you can even use yor PC keyboard as input device for smartphone.

First you need to download "Remote Display Control" application from here (scroll down to "Remote Display Control for Pocket PC" because it is just one of many applications on this page).

Now you need to start 2 sides: smartphone side (client application) and PC side (host application).

First you start PC application that looks like this after starting and is empty:

Then you need to start on your smartphone small application "CERDisp". Right after starting of this application you can see this dialog:

The dialog looks trimmed and it is no wonder because originally this application was designed for Pocket PC (of resolution 320x200 pixels).

... so just press "Action" key (in the middle of joystick/cursor keys) and then you will see this dialog:

... where with cursor keys set focus to "Connect" button and press "Action". Now you should see this dialog:

... and now press "Action" key again and now you should be able to see, on your PC in the window, the screen of your smartphone (!) :

... and as you can see on this screenshot:

... you can even make screenshots of games!

To make screenshots use "Alt-Print Screen" combination to put the content of the window to the clipboard so that you can put it later through paste to another application.

Later on, when you no longer need smartphone side of this application use task manager (freeware or commercial version) and kill the cerdisp.exe application:
